A wet trail through bare-branched spring forest at Orono Crown Lands, green ground cover beginning to come up
Series: Scotland Hiking Expedition

Sodden at Orono Crown Lands

A short rainy hike at a new spot, a small wardrobe lesson learned, and a very kind barista who pretended not to notice.

Got a decent little hike in today at a new place: Orono Crown Lands. It was raining. So wet. But I knocked off a quick few clicks anyway, because I really need to get my hiking legs in shape for Scotland.

A few clicks in, I also figured out that I really need some waterproof pants. My Patagonia light rain jacket sheds water beautifully... right into my crotch. Ha ha!

It was lovely to pretty much have the trails to myself.

The bloodroot was up too. White blooms cradled inside those scalloped leaves like the forest was hiding them on purpose. Spring doing its quiet thing.

After the hike I stopped in at Silver Scooter Roasters to grab some decaf beans. What a great place. The woman who served me very kindly pretended not to see that I was completely sodden.

Now to grind these beans and make some espresso.
